BUILT ON HARD WORK,

FAMILY & CULTURE

The Beginning

The seed of an idea turns into 50 years of building a successful, family business.

In 1990, Bill and Jim Derry had the opportunity to purchase Field Fastener from Dick Field - who started the business back in 1976. Bill, having worked at Rockford Products and knowing Dick, asked his brother to go in together on the business. 50 years later, under the ownership of the Derry Family, a move from Rockford to Machesney Park, Field continues to grow with an emphasis on family and culture.

Culture Means Everything

We act and think like a family–and it shows.

In the beginning, culture wasn’t top of mind. The initial culture of Field was the culture of the Derry Family that Bill and Jim grew up in.  Things like; do the right thing, play by the rules, treat everybody with respect, work & play hard, and put love into everything you do.  This was life growing up in the Syd and Ann Derry family. This led to the development of the Fieldamentals and our mission statement: “To have everyone who interacts with us, Love us” Creating an internal culture meant the need to do well by the community which opened doors to partner with various local organizations.

Growing the Family beyond Illinois

An international footprint built on the close-knit nature of our family.

Since 1990, we have grown from a single center of excellence in Rockford to an impressive 13 locations by 2025, spanning from Columbus, Ohio to Salem, Oregon and beyond. Growing 18% annually means that the number of team members continues to grow as well–growing our family. As Field grows, so do our services, solidifying the fact that we are More than Parts, A Partner.
