The Field way of life places a high value on people…our fellow team members, our customers, our suppliers, and our community. It’s family-focused, goal-oriented, and success-driven. Field was established in 1976 in Rockford, Illinois by Dick Field and quickly gained a reputation for being a quality fastener partner to businesses in the Rockford area and beyond.
In 1990, Bill Derry and Jim Derry purchased Field and set the company on a decades-long growth trajectory by applying their engineering expertise to customers’ fastener supply chain problems. Thanks to this engineering-based approach and the value it delivers to customers, Field has maintained an average growth rate of 20% per year since 1990. Today, Field serves a global customer base and maintains strong supply partnerships around the world.
Field’s growth and success would not be possible without its unique culture. Focused on a mission of improving lives, the Field team regularly gives time, effort, enthusiasm, and financial support to nonprofit organizations within our community, including the United Way, the Rock River Valley Blood Center, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Rockford Meld, GiGi’s Playhouse, Carpenter’s Place, Habitat for Humanity, Miss Carly's, Discovery Center, and and numerous others.
But the value Field places on community involvement is even better seen through our individual team members, who routinely make a positive difference in the community where we live and work by rolling up their sleeves and volunteering. This intentional focus on making a difference and improving lives helps make Field an employer of choice in our area.
The Fieldamentals are 30 principles that expand upon our core values and guide the actions of every Field team member. Aligned with our core values and our mission, these “rules to live by” help inform our decisions and communications every day. From “Make quality personal” and “Be a fanatic about response time” to “Work smart” and “Keep things fun,” our team takes personal responsibility for these Fieldamentals. We share weekly reflections, encourage behaviors, and even evaluate performance in line with our Fieldamentals. It’s another way for team members to connect with what’s important at Field

The Jim Derry Team Member of the Year Award is an annual award to one Team Member that is exceling at living our Core Values, Mission Statement, and Fieldamentals.
In order to be nominated for the Jim Derry Team Member of the Year award, the individual must be passionate, positive, trusted, and respected by fellow team members. They must be involved with multi-functional projects, strong community involvement, improving the business, and passionate about helping others. The individual must also have three years of service at Field at the time of nomination.
Fellow Team Members submit nominations for their peers, and the final selection is made by the senior leadership team.
